Description:  The Moniteau County R-1 School District (California, MO) is accepting applications for a High School Secretary for the 2024-2025 school year. This is an 11 month position with a start date of August 1, 2024. JOB FUNCTION: Performs a variety of clerical tasks requiring detailed knowledge of school procedures and policies; supports Principal/Assistant Principal with routine administrative and clerical details; maintains attendance records; and acts as liaison between Principal with staff, students, parents and community. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Organize, coordinate and schedule a variety of office activities to assist the Administration with tasks, prepare and accurately maintain a variety of reports, records, and files relating to students, operations, and activities. Compose routine correspondence independently; prepare, type, and distribute communications as requested and open and distribute mail accordingly. Register, release or transfer student records; complete enrollment information. Processes and instructs substitute teachers regarding school programs and procedures. Maintains staff absentee records and collects all relevant absentee reports. Reviews employee time sheets for accuracy and submits to the payroll department along with substitute teacher reports in a timely manner. Maintains daily attendance records and submits reports to the District Office weekly. Administers First Aid in the absence of school nurse and prepares accident reports when necessary. Responsible for purchasing, AP processing, receipt and distribution of instructional and office supplies. Answers incoming telephone calls and serves as receptionist as needed, with a positive attitude using tact, patience, and courtesy Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE OF: Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. (Fax, Copy, Scan, Google Slides, Google, Documents, Google Forms, Google Sheets, Email, SIS) Record keeping techniques Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation and vocabulary Oral and written communication skills Interpersonal and positive communication skills Knowledge of First Aid Team Oriented ABILITY TO: Work confidentially with discretion Perform a wide variety of clerical and secretarial duties to coordinate school office activities Perform public relations and communication services Compose correspondence independently Complete work with many interruptions and work independently Ability to relate to students with respect, compassion, tact and understanding Maintain good public relations with students, parents, staff, and the public Ability to establish effective rapport with pupils and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff members Meet schedules and timelines PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed while standing, sitting, or walking Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights, up to 30 pounds The School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin age, sex or disability, in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in its programs and activities.
