Job Vacancy Description:  Speech/Language Specialist
Description:  The Tipton R-VI School District seeks a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) for the 2024-2025 school year. The SLP provides speech and language therapy to students in grades K-12 with consideration of individual abilities so these students will develop as mature, able, and responsible citizens who can communicate effectively. The SLP works as a member of the special services team to provide both direct and consultative services.
Other Information:  The Successful Candidate will:
Provide direct and related services in communication as necessary.
Plan, provide and share with the regular education teachers’ accommodations and modifications for individual students.
Work collaboratively with the general and special education teachers in and outside the classroom.
Participate as part of a team to evaluate and re-evaluate students including testing, observation and placement.
Plan collaboratively with parents, the student and other members of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to develop the IEP.
Implement the IEP.
Monitor individual student progress and behavior.
Document and report progress on IEP goals.
Conducts ongoing parent-teacher contacts/communications, including parent/teacher dialogues.
Reads, discusses, and uses current developments in the field of speech pathology.
Keeps abreast of current developments in their field and continues to deepen their understanding of their discipline(s).
Develops IEP's, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication delays in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication delays in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
Interprets medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate for school therapy.
Maintains files and/or records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
