Description:  As a High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program in English language arts to facilitate learning and personal growth. You will engage students in literary analysis, critical thinking, writing skills development, and effective communication. Additionally, you will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success and promotes a lifelong appreciation for literature and language. Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines, ensuring the incorporation of diverse texts and literary genres. Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to various learning styles, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance student understanding and participation. Literary Analysis: Teach students to analyze and interpret various forms of literature, including novels, short stories, poetry, and drama, fostering critical thinking skills and encouraging discussions on themes, characters, and literary techniques. Writing Instruction: Provide instruction in writing mechanics, grammar, and composition, guiding students through the writing process from prewriting and drafting to revising and editing, with a focus on developing strong writing skills across different genres and purposes. Reading Comprehension: Implement strategies to improve students' reading comprehension skills, including vocabulary development, inference-making, and textual analysis, through close reading and discussion of literary and informational texts. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, including essays, projects, presentations, quizzes, and standardized tests, providing constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement. Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English language learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners, providing appropriate accommodations and modifications as needed. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, with clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, and implement effective classroom management strategies to address student behavior and promote a respectful and collaborative atmosphere. Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and academic expectations, and collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community stakeholders to support student success and promote the school's mission and goals. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ELA instruction, educational technology, and pedagogical research, and participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional learning communities to contribute to school-wide initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
