Description:  Pleasant Hope R-VI School District is seeking a dynamic Parent As Teacher Educator to join our successful PAT program for the 2024-2025 school year. The position will coordinate with our established PAT educator to provide additional activities to more families within our district. This is a part-time position. Qualifications •High school graduate •Certification or Licensure - Successful completion of a minimum of 30 hours Department-approved training in parent education •Valid Parents as Teachers National Training Certification •Two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents •Other requirements - Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education •Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills •Computer knowledge and assistive technology Responsibilities •Provides assistance, instruction and materials to parents/children in the areas of language stimulation and all areas of early childhood development •Offers encouragement, information and instruction in the areas of parent educations and home-school interaction •Considerable knowledge of parent education and outreach practices and programs •Provides age-appropriate developmental information and activities to parents •Monitors child behavior for educational, visual, and hearing delays •Refers suspected delays to appropriate school staff •Maintains flexible work schedule to accommodate parents' schedules, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends •Maintains appropriate records on participation, attendance, home visits, and group meetings •Schedule and maintain appointments •Demonstrate patience and maturity in dealing with young children, parents, teachers, and co-workers •Conducts screening activities as required •Maintains confidentiality and non-judgmental views of children and families served •Performs related duties as assigned •Prepares and disseminates educational and information materials •Meets applicable district physical ability/healthy and safety guidelines for the position Interested applicants are requested to apply online at https://phsd.tedk12.com/hire to be considered for this position.
